1 1/4 cups butter, softened
1 cup brown sugar
1 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup cocoa
1 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups milk chocolate morsels
2/3 to 1 cup dried cherries
Heat over to 375 degrees.
Beat butter just until no lumps remain.
Blend in sugars, beating briefly but completely.
Add eggs 1 at a time, beating after each addition, then stir in vanilla.
Add flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt. Use a wooden spoon to blend the mixture.
Stir in chocolate morsels and cherries.
Chill at least 30 minutes. (Chill overnight for prettier, rounded cookies.)
Drop by heaping tablespoons about 2 inches apart onto ungreased baking sheets
Bake 12 to 15 minutes. Cool on wire racks.
Makes: 35 large cookies.
